Our Program

Eating Disorder & Binge Eating Disorder

Intensive Outpatient Programs

Our IOP offers a safe place for compassionate, individualized and evidence-based treatment for 3 hours per day, 4 days per week. Our approach is multi-disciplinary with therapists and dietitians that have extensive experience treating eating disorders. We provide individualized support with private nutritional and psychotherapy sessions, along with group therapy modalities that are clinically proven to reduce eating disorder symptoms and behaviors.

Individual & Family Psychological Support

01

Individual & Family Psychological Support

Through weekly individual therapy with experienced licensed therapists, we develop an individualized treatment plan for each client and oversee their treatment and progress throughout the program. Our primary therapists cultivate a consistent relationship with their client and work to identify the psychological stressors that may be contributing to eating disordered behavior, developing strategies for healthy coping skills and psychological resilience.

Educational & Group Therapy Support

02

Educational & Group Therapy Support

Our psycho-education and therapy groups integrate evidence-based treatment modalities including Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, and Expressive Arts Therapy. In addition, we offer a process group after each meal to provide support and intervention for feelings and triggers that arise after meals. Each group is facilitated by an experienced therapist or registered dietitian.

Nutritional Counseling & Meal Support

03

Nutritional Counseling & Meal Support

Amrita’s goals in nutrition rehabilitation are to stabilize weight, decrease and/or eliminate compensatory behaviors, and regulate and normalize eating patterns. Through nutrition rehabilitation, biological and psychological conditions created by malnutrition are addressed.  Through daily meal groups, meal planning, journaling and working with registered dietitians in individual sessions, our clients develop lasting mindful eating skills for long term recovery.

How To Apply

 FAQs

  • Our IOP programming is for adolescents and adults who need a higher level of care than outpatient can provide, or for individuals with eating disorders who are stepping down from residential or Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) levels of care.

  • We understand that eating disorders are caused by a variety of psychological, physiological, interpersonal, and social factors, and that each individual is unique in their own eating disorder history and symptoms. Nutritional and therapeutic goals are based on the individual needs of each client.

  • Length of treatment at Amrita depends upon a number of factors, including previous treatment, severity of eating disorder behaviors, need for weight restoration, insurance coverage, and rate of progress. On average, clients stay in IOP treatment at Amrita for 12-14 weeks.

  • Amrita’s team of clinicians are experienced with trauma and multiple diagnoses in addition to eating disorders and can address all of these in treatment. However, since Amrita’s primary focus is on eating disorder treatment in individual and group work, referrals may be made to specialists outside of Amrita if deemed necessary.

  • Currently Amrita has one track that combines clients with Anorexia, Bulimia, Binge Eating Disorder, ARFID, and OSFED. Although each eating disorder has different symptoms and societal challenges, we believe clients can learn together, understanding the common core issues underlying their different behaviors.

  • The cost of IOP treatment depends upon insurance coverage and length of stay. Please contact Amrita if you are interested in a cost estimate for treatment. Amrita offers scholarships for clients in financial need.
